As for adult students, it all depends on their level and desires.From 5 to 8 years old, the lesson takes place in a playful way. Easy hand exercises, simple rhythmic patterns, pieces with polyphonic elements. From 8 to 12 in the program there are scales and exercises by L. Ganon, J. Bach, W. Mozart, P. Tchaikovsky, and K. For begining students who are under the age of thirteen, I prefer to start with Bastien's Piano Basics. This series comes with four different books (Technic, Piano, Performance, and Theory) that give the student a well rounded lesson. For students over the age of thirteen, I like to use Alfred's Basic Piano Course. This series has a more mature song selection, a variety of genres, includes music theory, and has piano excercises. While achievement is important to me, I believe that developing long-term skills is a far more significant. I prefer to emphasize skill-building and retention, and always want to make sure the student is enjoying the process. I prefer to set realistic short- and long-term goals for students at each lesson, and acknowledge their accomplishments with a system of rewards. Additionally, at the end of each year, I encourage my students' participation in a studio-wide voluntary recital, which is intended to showcase their growth and development over the course of the year as well as afford them an opportunity to perform in public. As a performer, I have sung in many opera houses and theatres across the country as well as in Germany and Italy.
