I sometimes fill in teaching in a theater class for vocals and guitar. My teaching experience goes back to my days trying to show my friends and family how to play a chord. I love composing my original material and I am always looking to teach new students! I have worked with children for almost ten years, but any age group is fine! I have some teaching experience, but mainly through Psychology. Read More

For children, I do not use books or complicate bibliography to teach. I encourage children to discover music through their own curiosity. Using historical imagery and references of the natural world that surrounds us, is very effective way to help children understand music. Art contains emotion and intellect, so, my intention is that the kids explore that knowledge in a fun and joyful way. For adults, the teaching process is more focus to expand their abilities. Most of my teaching involves two things: Technique and Genuineness. You cannot have one without the other and even when I am teaching proper technique I work to make sure the student is being their most natural self, physically, mentally and musically. I don't believe in copying a great singer or musician, but the student finding their best self and voice from being as free of a singer as possible. Read More

I keep it light and simple. In lessons, I am a listener as well as a teacher. I use the students own words to work through music. I encourage students to focus on what things feel like, and describe them, so that we can focus on what is working well! After a few general lessons, I work with the student to set realistic goals for themselves, not only per project, but per lesson. Read More

About 10 years a go, I began teaching on the side. I now have 30+ students. Some come to my home and some at a studio in St. Clair Shores. My goal is to get my singers performing as much a s possible. We have a standing performance at a local coffee house every month as well as an annual recital. I also encourage my students to audition for shows and scholarships by providing them with opportunities. Read More

For beginners I like to start with the basics of how the voice works and the proper techniques to use it. We always spend time at the end singing something they want to sing, it's important to not feel pressured into music. We will build a repertoire of songs the student is connected to and work towards a set list for a showcase. My more advanced students, I enjoy pushing them in ways that don't seem to make sense but when they feel the change in their voice they understand. Read More

I have been teaching since 1998. I love making music fun for my students, while requiring students to learn fundamentals such as music theory and vocal health. Teaching has been part of my life for over 17 years and I hope to continue for at least that many more. I believe music is for everybody and that each individual can improve and learn if they care and make an honest effort. I also teach to the student's focus as the time: if preparing an audition we focus on that. Read More
