I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Many times students have videoed me playing pieces i teach so they have an example to watch/follow. I use Josephine Trott double stoo books 1 2. I use Yaakov Geringas's "Shifting~Thirty Studies For Young Violinists " .there are a couple scale books i use with my students. I have quite a collection of fiddle tunes, klezmeh tunes, Gypsy music and more i like to mix in with the classical music. I have all my students perform in my student concerts or at least in some of them each year. Read More

For young children, i would start by showing them Twinkle Twinkle, once the student is able to hold the violin and bow upright without my help, and they understand the basics of violin. For children and adults, i would start with the book A Tune A Day, cause it teaches the basics of playing the violin such as simple scales and arpeggios, and will allow the student to make progress with each song they learn. Ms. Jiuri is currently a violin instructor at the Key notes school of Music, Yamaha Music school of Boston and Maestro Musicians Academy. She has recently found that teaching young children gives her great joy, especially dealing when with the complexities of personalities as they arise and the challenge of motivating and molding young minds. Jiuri is also an active orchestra musician, she is a regular member of the Cape Ann orchestra, Glens Falls symphony orchestra and the South Carolina Philharmonic. Read More
