I enjoy teaching violin to students of all ages and seeing them progress from novices to advanced players.I develop a rapport with the students and their parents and tailor the lessons to match their goals. Several of my students have auditioned and been accepted by orchestras such as the Essex County Youth Symphony, the NJ Youth Symphony, the Westfield Youtn Orchestra and the  Montclair Gamer Orchestra. I first discovered my love of teaching in college, more than 10 years ago. Since then, I have made it my mission to make learning informative, engaging, and fun. It is important to encourage regular and consistent practice time during the week in between lessons so we can use our lesson time most productively and make your learning experience more enjoyable. I began teaching beginner piano when I was in middle school and caught the teaching bug! (My dad was a high school choir teacher for thirty-five years, so I must have caught it from him.) Now I teach violin/fiddle, voice and piano. I believe that learning classical music and sight reading are both fundamentals to begin learning any instrument. I studied in Spain, where I won several chamber music competitions, until 2007. When I was 19 I moved to London to continue my studies at the Guildhall School of Music Drama with professors Sven Arne Tepl and Rachel Roberts where I attained a Bachelor of Music with Honours 2:1. In 2011 I was finalist in the Max and Peggy Morgan Competition. I use String Builder, Essential Elements, etudes, technical studies for each instrument and Suzuki Methods for strings and essential elements for clarinet. I emphasize good posture, holding the instrument and bow properly and correct finger placement. Also learning to play scales and music to prepare for auditions and a recital. I also teach students music theory and sight reading and assist with orchestral music.
