Although I do not teach Suzuki method, I do like to use the Suzuki method books as a resource for teaching younger students. The first piece my school-aged students learn will always be one that they know the tune to already: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, for example. Once students are comfortable in holding and using the violin, I introduce a little bit of note reading at each lesson. For adult students, understanding of the instrument will come much faster, so I love getting my students to play music with which they can focus on making a beatiful sound while still learning the fundamentals. I started playing the violin when i was 5 years old, I went to Hamilton Country Day School in Attleboro MA as a child where violin was part of the curriculum. I was lucky enough to be the Concert master in the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in the Prep Strings section when i was 10 years old. I don't have prior experience teaching students, but i have almost 20 years of experience playing, and look forward to sharing what knowledge, and passion for music i have with students of all ages. We'll be doing two septets for violin, viola, cello, bass, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn by Adolphe Blanc and Franz Berwald. We just performed them 3 other times in MIllis, MA, Methuen, MA and Hamilton MA, Yes and in August we performed at the Plymouth library in Plymouth MA doing a different program. Our concerts were greatly received and we got standing ovations.. Chamber music is my favorite but I do play in many orchestras as well. Read More
