Although I began my musical career in the Suzuki method, I intentionally balance the ear-training approach of that method with music theory to create well-rounded musicians. My students will learn how to sight read music, improvize their own melodies, perform in an ensemble (chamber and/or orchestral) and master the art of performance with a solid foundation in music theory. My teaching method books involve All for Strings and Suzuki books. Suzuki books are categorized from level 1-10, level 8-10 is the equivalent of college level repertoire. I currently have students on level 1-8. In addition, I also look for individual method books and outside repertoire of Suzuki once the student is ready to move at a faster pace or in need of additional help. I have experience teaching in many facets. I began working with kids as a full-time nanny and then went into teaching in a Kindergarten classroom, and proceeded to teaching music for all ages. I am very intuitive and experienced with seeing where a student is at, meeting their needs as a teacher and student individually first, and then growing them into a musician from there. I introduce scales right away and each student usually has a technique book. I also incorporate games into lessons for young students to keep it fun. As students advance I introduce sheet music and music they like. For adults, there are a couple of chord method books by Alfred and Faber available and I use those unless they request something specific to work on.
