I would love the ability to teach you and know we'd enjoy it! Most recently, I have 1 year of experience working as a Choir Teacher at the Aldines Young Womens Leadership Academy where I taught 6th and 7th grade choir classes during the day and Drama/Improv Club after school. It is required of me to make fun and educational lesson plans following the curriculum set by the school as well as keep up with any and all professional development provided including monthly faculty meetings. I began teaching when I was a sophomore in high school (5 years ago). I started off by going to middle schools to teach violinists/violists how to polish their repertoire contest, or helped them clean their music excerpts and etudes for auditions mainly in classical music. Not only did I taught middle school kids but I also taught beginners as little as 6 years old how to play the violin or viola, with fun modern music. Read More

My fourteen years as a strings teacher has included both private lessons and public school settings. Many of his students have gone on to be involved in regional orchestras, Houston Youth Symphony, and university orchestras. From 2007 through 2010 orchestras under my care have earned consistent First Division ratings at UIL competitions, including “Sweepstakes” honors in 2008. Other superior and first division honors include those from the Humble Invitational, Pride of Texas and Soundwaves music festivals. Read More

Depending on students age and ability, I use different kind of methods. For students that are new to music I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, this book is really good to start to learn about music and the instrument, and then Suzuki method for repertoire. For more advanced students I like to set learning steps, that way my students can achieve goals quickly and feel more engaging to practice. Read More

I've performed in several orchestras at the college level and competed in a variety of fiddle contests throughout the state of Texas, most recently the Fiddler's Frolics in Hallettsville, Texas. I have been a volunteer after-school violin instructor in the Houston Independent School District (Roosevelt Elementary, Gallegos Elementary, and Martinez Elementary) and local Jewish community centers. I'm also very active in the Houston opera and theater communities and have performed in nearly a dozen productions in the area, often in small accompanying orchestras and as a soprano and/or actress. My teaching began simply by teaching fellow classmates in my school years but at the end of high school i quickly began to branch out to other students. By 19 i had about 20 students from the age of 5 all the way to age 45, from beginner to advanced levels. My Goal is to create a fun, and safe lesson environment where my students feel motivated to cultivate and grow their love and understanding of music, theory, technique, and performance skills. I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on.
