I was trained classically in violin in the Suzuki method, took rock/folk-based instruction in guitar, and learned brass and percussion through my high school marching band, which also doubled as a concert ensemble for half of the school year. I am very patient with my students and believe that every student has a potential in a certain sphere. When it comes to practicing an instrument I had cases where students did not practice at all. Instead of stopping lessons with those types of students I patiently waited and continuously motivated, and little by little the progress was happening. I also care about my students. I began teaching private violin and viola lessons in 2012, and I greatly enjoy working with my students. They have ranged in age from 3 1/2 to adult, and each one has been unique. After beginning lessons with my first student, teaching a semester of music theory, and teaching a summer camp, I became interested in Suzuki methodology and pedagogy. I find that for younger students especially, this method allows for more parent involvement at an age when many parents want to be more involved, and many children equally appreciate this involvement.
