I am very passionate about music, and my goal is to pass that onto my students. I look for ways to keep them motivated by changing up the things we focus on and using fun teaching tools. I graduated in 2012 from The Art Institute of Houston with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). I have played professionally with the Brazosport Symphony in Lake Jackson, TX as their principal cellist, librarian, and manager. Read More

Also while studying with Kato Havas , I learned her method to manage the stage fright for string players. Among of many important teachers both in US and Italy I have studied with Giusto Cappone (left), the legendary principal violist of the Berliner Philharmoniker during the golden era of Herbert Von Karajan, and the world famous DGG recordings. I also studied at the Juilliard School with Karen Tuttle, William Primrose's assistant, and William Lincer, former principal violist of the New York Philharmonic. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the lesson books you or I provide, preferably Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Born in Los Angeles, Andy started playing piano at age five and by age thirteen, he was studying the viola as well. He played in his schools string orchestra, the Conejo Youth Symphony, and was awarded the opportunity to perform at the Music Teacher's Association convention in Sacramento. In high school, Andy started playing drums as a hobby but soon found it to be yet another instrument he was passionate about. Read More

I use a number of resources to teach students concepts in musical performance. This includes online resources and method books that enhance fundamentals and technique. I do believe that understanding of music theory is necessary to advance beyond the intermediate level, and this system has assisted in training many students over the years. Novice students are encouraged through movement and activities to teach concepts while intermediate players are given exercises that focus on instrumental technique to strengthen musicality. Depending on students age and ability, I use different kind of methods. For students that are new to music I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, this book is really good to start to learn about music and the instrument, and then Suzuki method for repertoire. For more advanced students I like to set learning steps, that way my students can achieve goals quickly and feel more engaging to practice. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin
For beginner students, i typically like to work with the tried and true Suzuki books, as well as theory practice with Essential Elements for violin, and the Faber books for pianists. I will begin to introduce solo work as skills build, but we will always be working on something that the student genuinely is interested in. For adults/ intermediate or advanced students i try to find what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep lessons fun and engaging while also slightly challenging to further understanding of technical abilities.
