My teaching experience dates back to my school days, as I began teaching private lessons part time ,from 2003,and have been consistently teaching students in my home and at students homes, for the last 10 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for the younger students, as it tends to help the student progress. For beginners, I always start with Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I typically will work with the student from the Suzuki Violin Method books and also will choose a scale book based on the student's progress. I often prefer for beginning students to play from the Hrimaly Scale Book. Later down the line, students can choose pieces that they are interested in, but I am always an advocate of classical pieces for fundamental training. Read More

I like to make learning an instrument an enjoyable experience and allow students to progress at their own pace.  I also introduce them to different styles of music such as classical, folk, Broadway musicals as well as popular songs.  In addition, I teach students new skills and techniques to enhance their playing abilities. Other operatic role experience of mine includes ensemble member and Adele (cover) in Die Fledermaus, Jenny Slade in Roman Fever, and Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflte at Carnegie Mellon. I have also performed as a soloist with the Carnegie Mellon University choir and the CMU Singers chamber group. This past December I was the soprano soloist in the Faur Requiem with the Carnegie Mellon University choir. In addition, I have attended the Redwoods Opera Workshop, the Savannah Voice Experience Festival, and the International Vocal Arts Institute where I performed the role of Le Converse in Suor Angelica and was a soloist on several concert programs. For beginner students, I like to work on positioning the instrument, proper bow hold, and simple string crossing exercises. A great beginners book is the quick steps to note reading. I believe beginner students should be practicing with this book every day. When they are ready to start learning pieces, I really like to use the Suzuki books. This works for both young beginners and adult beginners. For students who are more advanced, I am adamant about them practicing scales and etudes. Read More
