I taught at the Boston Conservatory extension program when it existed. I went to japan and saw Suzuki as part of my training for teaching the Suzuki method. I belong to ASTA and SAA , SMS and AFM I've had students playing in the suzuki festivals. Students I've taught are now having excellent careers as professional musicians. Each student progresses at their own pace along with possibly participating in ensembles such as their school orchestra, All-State auditions, and more. Every time I teach a student, I learn something new about people and my instrument. I end up learning right along with them, and I love it! if you are starting from ground zero, I typically like to start with the Suzuki method books, and learning by ear. Learning good techniques and is of the utmost importance at this stage! I have been teaching private lessons for about 2 years, both for a company and privately. These lessons include beginner piano, voice, and violin. In my music therapy internship I have also had the experience of teaching adaptive piano, guitar, and ukulele lessons. Finally, while I am not yet board certified and cannot offer music therapy until next school year, I have over 1,000 hours of music therapy clinical experience in which I use musical activities to help clients achieve non-musical goals in the areas of cognition, emotion, physical abilities, communication, social skills and academics.
