Since I was young, I loved teaching my friends and even got a couple of them to start learning the violin so that we could all play together. Formally, I started giving private lessons during my college days, teaching 4-5 year old students to play the violin and piano. In the last 10 years, I have explored further by teaching a wider range of age groups (3-70), different skill levels (beginner through advanced), and a variety of genres (classical, pop, K-pop, rock, blues). Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I always knew I wanted to study music, and chose Illinois State to do so. While there, I participated in musicals, as well as concert choir and the women's elite chorus "Belle Voix." Since college, I have been writing original cabarets and performing live around the city of Chicago. It's my philosophy that one should never stop learning, so I study regularly with my voice teacher of eight years, Sandra DeAthos, take class at the Bloom School of Jazz (vocal performance and jazz piano), and with the Second City Music Conservatory. In June 2023, I graduated with a Masters degree at Northwesterns Bienen School of Music. Passionate about orchestral playing, I have held concertmaster and principal positions with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, South Side Symphony, Santa Monica Symphony, UCLA Philharmonia, Colburn orchestras, American Youth Symphony, and the Debut Orchestra.
