I usually encourage my students to read music, but for the youngest students I start by playing with them and having them copy me. Depending on the age and level of the student, there are a number of options to pick from, which allows me to get just the right fit! I emphasize good posture, holding the instrument and bow properly and correct finger placement. Also learning to play scales and music to prepare for auditions and a recital. I also teach students music theory and sight reading and assist with orchestral music.
