I have been teaching privately and in group classes for the past 6 years. This past summer, I taught a chamber orchestra of kids ages 6-12 in Narni, Italy. It was a truly rewarding experience. Most of my experience is with teaching private lessons. I am open to teaching all ages and levels. For violin, I teach mostly beginners and intermediate students, but can teach all levels for viola. I am a graduate of the Hartt School, where I was a member of an honors chamber music program, Performance 20-20. For beginning or young students (under age 8), music-related games are incorporated into lessons to encourage positive growth, rather than thinking of playing an instrument as a "chore". Small assignments are expected to be completed weekly, so that the child feels a sense of accomplishment and progress. For older or more advanced students, lessons are structured by a regimen of scales, exercises, and classical pieces.
