For beginning students who are children, I typically start with my own method based on fundamental approach to trumpet playing, such as Arban, Maggio, Collin and Clark methods. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. As such, there are some standard pedagogical tools I use- Arban, Schlossberg, Clarke, etc.- but I'll often customize certain things to create greater learning value and to address a particular challenge or musical interest. I received my double bachelor's degrees in Vocal Music Education and Music Performance at Moravian College. I have had a varied career, and have performed all over the world in a variety of settings including orchestras, ballet, opera and musical theater/pops.
