As for the method I use to teach trumpet, it varies according to each person. It will depend on the age, the previous musical knowledge that the student has, as well as the musical genre that you want to learn. If the student is a child, child-friendly methods are used to promote learning without causing exhaustion in the child so that he or she will love the instrument. In the case of adults, the musical level and the genre that you want to perform are evaluated and based on that, the method to be taught is chosen. Read More

I've had a number of devoted teachers and being in New York there's always a chance to learn something new by simply saying hello to a musician. I look at teaching as sharing information enthusiastically and giving a student a chance to check in about issues they're dealing with relating to the instrument, music in general, and psychology of performance. I'm a student of the directions I was nudged towards by several key teachers. Read More

Since I began learning piano, my cousins would ask me to show them what I had learned in my latest lesson and attempt to teach them. Even then I enjoyed the experience of sharing and teaching music. When I was 15 I began teaching guitar lessons to a small group of students who attended service at the church my family attends. In addition to this, family friends would hire me to give their children piano/guitar lessons on weekends. Read More

I teach strong instrumental fundamentals, along with music theory comprehension, sight-reading, and ear training. I also like to emphasize ensemble playing using instrumental duets. I use appropriate level texts based on the student's experience first and age level second but always teach from what will make either younger students or adults feel comfortable. Fun is a must in one's progression but focus is key to success. I've helped students win concerto and ensemble awards and have also brought adults into the professional-level playing world through lessons. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Trombone Clarinet Euphonium Tuba
In order for my students to achieve their full musical potential, I am aware that each student is different in regards to learning. To achieve this, I spend a lot of time getting to know the student and how the learn best so I can accurately plan and prepare lessons, objectives, and goals to fit the needs of each individual pupil. From there, I facilitate and incorporate various methods of music teaching into my lessons and curriculum. Read More

I use Rubank methoh books for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I will introduce material from the Arbans method when students have reached a desired level. In addition, I'll find material in the genre that is exciting to the student but also develops their skills and techniques on the instrument. I create individual lessons and goals for each student based what needs to be improved, and what inspires them to practice and get better I am a strong believer in proper techniques, and that they can be obtained simulataneously while studying many genres of music. For beginning woodwind students, I have had success using the Rubank method books as a starter. Alongside a method book, I like to work on material chosen by the student, as well as my own supplemntal exercises. It is important for the student to understand the musical concepts associated with the repertoire, as well as focusing on performing well. I also prefer to have my students keep a practice log book, in order to track their progress. For piano and music theory, I like to use the John Thompson method for beginner students, and the Bastien Piano Literature series for more advanced students. Read More
