I graduated in 2011 from SMU with my music degree in Trumpet Performance, and have been teaching privately in the Dallas area ever since. Although while at SMU my focus was mainly on orchestral playing and classical techniques, I am equally comfortable playing jazz and commercial styles, and honestly probably play those styles just as much as I do orchestral work now. I love teaching lessons and view each student as a unique way to approach the instrument. Read More

For kids, I'll start with easy but basic notes and chords. I try to make it fun like learning songs they might know. For young adults to adults, I'll do the same but on their level and the expectation is much higher than kids. Read More

Then method and studies as Mueller, Hackelman, Gallay, Belloli, Levi. Works with piano accompaniment and in chamber music formats are part of my teaching accordingly to student's level. In my experience with kids I have been able to achieve success implementing own materials. With piano lessons ( beginners level only) methods as Hanon, the Little Pischna, Czerny, Ana Magdalene Bach's books and many others can be helpful in beginner level to achieve finger independence, dual musical lecture, mechanic and motor skills, articulations, dynamics, etc. Read More

Most schools use the Hal Leonard Essential Elements and I tend to focus on this method as supplemental instruction but other methods are fine as well especially if the student is already working through a particular method book. For young students I encourage a mix of formal music instruction with music the student enjoys. Nothing unlocks a love of learning like discovering how your favorite music works! Adult students are welcome to tailor their lessons to their musical goals whether that's learning Bach or Breaking Benjamin! Read More

I rehearse with top ensembles there daily, and perform regularly with them. I also play various gigs in the D/Fw area, as well as all around east Texas. Read More

Trumpet: For beginning students who are children we begin with the basics. Learning how to blow, to buzz on the mouthpiece, getting a sound is key. Setting the embouchure I will listen to each student and adjust as needed. My students will play long tones on their mouthpieces and sirens blowing fast and slow increasing their range going up and down. They will be given simple exercises that will help them build their range and flexibility moving in a chromatic scale up and down. Read More
