Originally from Houston, TX, I began my music studies in 2010 and graduated from Sam Houston State University with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I went to earn a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Houston in 2017. I recently moved to New York City after being accepted into the Manhattan School of Music's Professional Studies program for classical trumpet. In October of 2018, I won the 2nd trumpet position with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and have performed as principal trumpet and soloist with the orchestra. Read More

I began teaching in 2012 when I was awarded the Graduate Assistant position at Western Michigan University. As a G.A., I was responsible for teaching non-music majors saxophone lessons, theory and ear-training, as well as coaching ensembles. I also taught flute and clarinet at Paramount Charter Academy in Kalamazoo, Michigan to middle school students. I will do whatever it takes to teach the student whatever they are willing to learn. If they want to learn a specific genre on an instrument that has never been used for that genre, I will be happy to teach them. For example, I can play trap music on a piano, but I could also play death metal on a piano as well. Daryl began playing flute at the age of 11, as part of a middle school band class. His band instructor noticed his innate talent, and began to prepare him for studies at the Music Advancement Program at the Juilliard School. During this two year program, Daryl studied flute with Jayn Rosenfeld, played in chamber ensembles and orchestra, while also studying music history, music theory, and ear training.
