I started teaching lessons in college. I began teaching lessons 6 years ago, and have always taught in-home lessons. I believe that teaching in the home will help my students be more comfortable practicing at home. I prefer the one on one setting that teaching lessons gives you over the large ensemble setting. I believe it gives more opportunity to grow as a player. For young students I encourage a mix of formal music instruction with music the student enjoys. Nothing unlocks a love of learning like discovering how your favorite music works! Sound is the most important aspect of trumpet playing, and the good thing is you can practice pretty much anything and still focus on your sound. For beginners I usually supplement their beginner band book with some simple drills from Schlossberg's Daily Drills or some I wrote myself. The Clarke's Technical Studies and Arban's Complete Conservatory Method are great books as well that I use with most of my intermediate/advanced students. Read More

Every student learns in a different way and I try to capitalize on that what I feel like is best for the student while working with them.
