I try to have as much fun as possible while still maintaining a high expectiation of performance.  I am, by trade and training, a comedian, so jokes and laughter abound. For younger students that are just starting, I've found the Accent on Achievement books to be very helpful in developing the basics of playing. From there, Classically-focused players would learn solo repertoire, Jazz-focused players would learn standards and improvisation, and all the other genres would begin to narrow down their appropriate fields. I began teaching lessons while still in high school through a mentorship program with music students in local middle schools. Being able to teach at such a young age not only encouraged personal growth on my instrument but inspired my love for teaching and sharing a joy of music.
