Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I am a third-year undergrad at NYU, studying Music Education with a concentration in instrumental performanceand I love it! I usually start my beginning piano students who are children, in Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Lesson Book 1A. After a few months, I begin adding solo repertoire that is appropriate for age and ability. For middle school age students and adults, I start with Alfred's Basic Piano, Adult, Level 1. I also like to find out the student's individual interest and find repertoire that they are interested in learning and that are aligned with their current skills. Read More

The approach I take is individualized and utilizes multiple teaching methods. Every student brings unique qualities and different interests and it is my job to find a way to connect those qualities and interests to music. One thing I emphasize is continued learning. Like Most trumpet players, I follow and believe in using essential trumpet books (Arbans, Clarke, Flexus, Schlossberg, etc) and use others that depend on the desires of the musician. For children and/or beginners, I incorporate a little keyboard, to help with some theory basics, since all the notes are laid out. I have always struggled with my musical interests differing from my teachers while growing, so I develop my lessons based on each student, and play music that will both incorporate the teachings of the lesson, and also play music that is enjoyable for them, as well as etudes, or anything they would like to work on. As a teacher, I have taught masterclasses, clinics, and have given private and public instruction as part of after-school programs, camps, and private events. One of my main purposes in life is to play music for the sake of making music, and also to share music with people for the sake of their experience. As a performer, I play regularly throughout NYC with Grammy-nominated and winning artists such as Jimmy Greene, Eric Bergen, and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra at clubs such as Birdland, the Iridium, Joe's Pub, Smalls, Smoke, and many more.
