I have been teaching trumpet since 2008 where I have been giving private, in home instruction. All of my students take part in the NYSSMA festival and annually score at the top of their class. Some students have made it into the SCMEA, NYSCAME, and All-State Festivals. I am a trained classical trumpeter and I am proficient on the Bb, C, Eb, A piccolo, G Bugle, and Flugelhorn trumpets. I'm hands-on, affirming, and challenging at the same time: I believe in gently recognizing areas of improvement, which we work on through fostering a positive, "no-wrong-answers" approach. I create a safe space for my students and encourage them to explore all areas and facets of the instrument; in doing so, students are then able to express themselves more dynamically in classical music, and to improvise more creatively in jazz. Clynt is a professional trumpet player and freelancer in the New York City metro area. He plays jazz, R&B, pop, latin and classical music. He is a featured soloist and section player in jazz and commercial settings, as well as a horn writer and arranger. I am a third-year undergrad at NYU, studying Music Education with a concentration in instrumental performanceand I love it! I like to tailor my approach to each student and the things they find inspiring about brass instruments. I will set goals and motivate my students in a way that works for their learning style. Lessons will always be engaging, challenging and fun. All students will begin with a foundation in the essential trumpet method books including the Arban, Clarke, Schlossberg and Chichowicz. From there we can explore specific areas of interest, with my specialties being upper register development, improvisation, jazz theory, transcription and solo pieces/concertos. Read More
