I first started teaching and helping run brass sectionals at some local schools in 2004, but did not start teaching regualarly until I completed my degree in 2011. I find that young musicians make the most progress when playing for and with other people. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging and put a strong emphasis on playing duets. My experience as a teacher started when I was in high school, giving private lessons to local middle school and elementary school students. Ive continued giving private lessons as well as masterclasses, sectional work, and marching band coaching throughout college. Teaching is as much of a calling for me as is playing the trumpet. My goal with all students is that they enjoy learning, become self-motivated to practice, and consider their musical abilities as a gift which they can choose to share with others whenever they feel comfortable to do so.
