I am a major advocate for the fundamentals. We deal primarily with producing a good tone and will learn scales as best as possible. For beginners and intermediate students, I use the Tradition of Excellence method books. These books set strong fundamentals no matter what level the student starts taking lessons. During and after high school, I use specific method books (Arban, Rochut, Fink, etc.) to deal with specific elements of the student's playing. These methods/etude books begin to teach the musical aspect of playing while staying grounded in the fundamentals.
Again, my teaching style reflects my own experience. I learned the most from the teachers that recognized that the trumpet is an incredibly phisical instrument and each player brings a different physique to the instrument. A recognition of each player's strengths and weaknesses, both physically and mentally, allows me to be the most effective by targeting techniques that work and finding new approaches to those that do not. A student who is comfortable and confident as they learn to play the trumpet is one who will continue to do so throughout their entire life, and will enjoy themselves while doing it. Students that leave lessons from me confident and passionate about what music can do for them are the students that I find the most rewarding. I work hard to reach each and every one of my students!
I have a passion for music. I started on the piano when I was seven years old and I've never looked back. After spending years in grade school, junior high and high school learning and performing in the band program on trumpet and euphonium, I moved on to play euphonium in The Most Exciting Band in the Land, the Ohio University Marching 110! In the Marching 110 I played in front of thousands of people at Ohio University's Peden Stadium and at professional football games in Cincinnati and Buffalo. After finishing college I taught myself to play bass guitar and guitar and I began writing my own music and performing those songs with various bands. It has become one of the great joys of my life to help students find in themselves the same passion, love and enjoyment that I have for music.
I am a beleiver that the solid foundation is the key to musical success. This foundation is broken down into 3 sections (mental, emotional and physical). I focus on the physical, lip strengh, arm and finger positions, and the correct breathing techniques. The mental and emotinal come with time and as the student grows these items will come naturally. The most importat item is to have fun, if your not having fun your intrest will fade. I like to teach popular items, seasonal items, and if talent level is present the classics.

The teachers in our network can create a custom lesson and technique plan for each student. For the most part, lessons will focus on learning how to hold and care for the instrument, and prepare it for playing. Students will also focus on mouth position, breath support and the location of the valves. Sight reading along with music theory will also be taught.
It is never too late to play an instrument. We have many adult students playing trumpet. Our teachers can work with you whether you are a beginner or advanced player. Many of our adult students notice significant progress in just a short time! It is important to practice every day between your lessons to notice the most progress.
We suggest starting trumpet lessons at age 7 or 8. A student should be able to hold the instrument correctly and their fingers should be large enough to properly push up and down on the valves. Playing trumpet also requires significant lung capacity, which can be difficult for a younger child.
A trumpet has several parts: the rim, the cup, the mouthpiece, the shank, the lead pipe, the valve, and the valve casings. Make sure all the parts of the trumpet are in good condition. If you're unfamiliar with the instrument it's best to ask an expert or a store employee. Prices for trumpets can vary so it is important to have a budget in mind when shopping around. Usually students will rent the instrument for some time before purchasing. When trying out trumpets many students chose to bring their own mouthpiece, as this is the most personal part of the trumpet.

Kevin was such a fun, smart and innovative voice teacher to work with. I had the pleasure of taking lessons with him for over a year and I couldn’t have been more pleased with my time under his training. In just a few weeks I noticed my voice was stronger and I was able to apply his teaching and see the results. My son and I both take lessons with Micheal. My son started on the ukulele and recently started the guitar. He is excellent with children. Very patient and very intuitive to the child's ability. He is also an excellent teacher for adults. I had not touched my guitar in several years and in a couple months not only to I remember everything I forgot but I'm learning many new techniques and am a much better player than I've ever been.

Giorgi has made learning cello even more fun. From the sympathetic, "It is hard" to the precise, "Be careful about the curve of the thumb" he has strengthened learning in every lesson, without being overwhelming. He started playing a little duet on only the 3rd lesson or so, which made me feel, even as a beginner, that I'm already starting to make (occasionally screachy) music. He has suggested a variety of drills and practice techniques which have also sped up the process a lot. And he has a good sense of humor and surprising amount of patience.

Our daughter has only been playing the piano since March. Tony replaced our other teacher who had a job transfer and could no longer teach. Tony is fun and encouraging. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Rachel. We met her through CYT where my daughter took theater classes from Rachel and was directed by Rachel in several musicals. Because Rachel was so wonderful to work with and so clearly talented at teaching and directing, several years ago, my daughter started private vocal lesson with her and I have seen my daughter's vocal abilities grow in leaps and bounds. Rachel is an ace at picking music to work on that stretches abilities while at the same time, keeps vocal lessons fun. I highly recommend her as a voice and theater coach.

I really like her. And as an adult student, a good teacher who keeps the pace up but still keeps it reasonable in terms of difficulty is really hard to find. She does a great job of explaining little detail things in terms I (as a musically challenged human) can understand. I'm having a blast! 10/10 would recommend!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
