I began teaching in 2012 as a senior in high school working at a community music school's summer arts camp in New York. I worked there for five summers as an assistant instructor. I taught beginner and intermediate French horn and trumpet lessons while working there. After they have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire and etudes for their first recital performance. My teaching style is one that is not used much at beginning levels but for me, that's why it works. Teaching a young student how to play the instrument by sound and not by reading notes allows them to use their imagination while playing. When students figure out for themselves, that is when the best kind of learning happens. These performances include recital halls, banquet halls, school auditoriums, night clubs, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties, church ceremonies, community theater and parades.
