In my experience I have found that it is most effective to teach students in a one-on-one setting. When others are involved in the lesson it can cause a student to become self conscious and therefore effects their progress. It is important for the student to begin with a defined goal so that progress can be measured. When the student sees their progress they maintain enthusiasm in pursuit of the goal. Read More

I am a professional trumpet player and educator. I am currently an adjunct professor at Richard Stockton University in New Jersey where I teach trumpet and coach a small jazz ensemble. I also teach many students privately out of my home studio. I have a very busy performing schedule currently and have been fortunate enough to perform all over the world with my own group as well as many other artists as diverse as Lou Rawls and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. While I absolutely have my own style and methods, I tend to follow a student centered approach, basing my teaching on what they need, and the kinds of goals, auditions, and performances they have coming up. I am always very patient with all my students. I never try to put too much work on the student and always believe you should have more then one chance to get it right. Music is not a test and their is no failing, there is only the end result, which ends when the student makes progress, no matter how long it takes. I like to concentrate on my students abilities and ask that they bring 100% to their lessons as most of the lesson time is spent on the instrument; some lessons may be more informative for students interested inan in depthunderstanding of music theory. I value and respect all schools of teaching although i revert to a more liberal way of learning where the student and the teacher can learn together. I have attended the philadelphia hs for creative and performing arts and now study at CCP in my 6th year for Music Education. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students develop a passion for music as well as realize how rewarding music can be. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this and nurture this by assigning exercises to each student for their specific goals. After achieving each goal I feel like they will be more eager to learn and motivated to succeed. Read More
