I have been teaching privately for over 5 years, having teaching studios in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. In addition, I was a trombone lesson teacher at Paul R. Baird Middle School in Ludlow, MA for 2 years. I am an extremely devoted and passionate instructor with a great love of music and teaching. The type of student who tends to succeed the most with me are the ones who have a true love of music and wish to improve and learn on a daily basis. Read More

For my beginning students I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Then we move to the "Arban" book and eventually start working on solo rep. Another thing I like to implement is the breathing gym, which not only helps as a musician but can also assure you having clear lungs! I usually try to do fun things for example if my student is young I ask them whats their favorite pop song and I usually arrange it or find an arrangement and spend a lesson doing that, or even teaching them to learn it by ear. My approach to teaching varies with every student a come across. I try to get a good grasp of their strengths and weaknesses while also identifying their nature gifts. All musicians have unique abilities and ways of expressing their talents. I am very much open to artistic freedoms and catering to different approaches for each individual student. I strive to facilite resources to allow my students to set realistic goals for themselves. Read More

This is the quintessential aspect of playing that when placed with the right habits; can lead to greater success. It is so crucial to the process. I would then assign a beginner's book. Read More

As stress free as possible allowing the student to progress at their own but steady pace. To set realistic goals based on their own ability in addition to the time they have to devote to the trombone. I may occasionally talk about other interest the student may outside of music such as football, baseball, tennis ect. to keep the setting relaxed and comfortable. When students show effort I stay positive and give encouragement. Read More

Having a comfortable, supportive environment for private lessons is very important to me. Nothing is worse than being scared of your private instructor! I like to create a warm environment for my students where they feel safe taking musical risks. I definitely believe in goal setting with my students. Knowing things that they would like to accomplish in one lesson, 4 lessons, 8 lessons etc. is a great way to keep students motivated. Read More
