For beginning students, I focus on the very first fundamentals of playing trombone and music which consists of simple music theory and fundamental technique of playing the trombone. Once those fundamentals are introduced and the students shows progression, I will assign etudes and solo repertoire to help improve on musicality and technique. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, and encourage them by praising their achievements. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. The struggling student is just as capable of loving music, just as much as the accomplished one. As I mentioned earlier, all students learn at different paces, so I teach each student as close as humanly possible to their level.
