I'm a dedicated music educator that wants to help students bring out their full potential on their instrument. In 2018, I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music Education. While at Baylor, I was a member of the trombone studio under Brent Phillips. I played in all the instrumental ensembles avaliable to play in as a trombonist. These books can use up to intermediate students and some easy solo pieces from the trombone gems collection by H.A. VanderCook. For intermediate to advanced students playing trombone for more than two years, I would use Melodious Etudes for Trombone Selected from the Vocalises of Marco Bordogni book one and Arban Complete Method for Trombone and Euphonium. I hope to instill a joy and passion for music in my students. Through our work on fundamentals and etudes they will learn the skills they need to truly express themselves when they perform. I always try to ask the student what the scene of a movie would be if they are playing the soundtrack, and get them to convey that when they play. I know that most of my young students are in their school's band program, so I use a combination of whatever method books they use there plus my own supplemental materials I have found to be effective over years of teaching. If students are preparing for events like All-Region/All-District auditions or a Solo Festival, I spend plenty of time helping them with that. I have been teaching students younger than me since I was in the 8th grade. I began professionally teaching when I began college in 2015. Currently, I teach students from schools involved in TMEA and ATSSB. My students have had success in All Region auditions, Area auditions, and solo and ensemble. Since most of the students I teach are members of a band program, I make sure that most of my lessons are based on what is being learned at school. Planning an individual practice schedule is imperative for their success but at the same time make it enjoyable so the student will want to practice. Constant acknowledgement of their progress each lesson the student more eager to learn. The biggest joy in teaching and working with students is seeing them develop a passion and love for music. My teaching experience is very hands on and I love to model everything that I teach.
