At our first lesson, we will dive into what YOU want to learn. It's my job as a teacher to facilitate a creative and challenging learning environment, but it's up to you, the student, to make the time we spend together something you would like to work on. If a student has the confidence and dedication to succeed, they are more than likely to do just that. Read More

I prefer having a good balance between technical facility of the instrument and the study of the music itself, whether that be in understanding a genres history, improvising and creating music, or transcribing and listening to music within the field of directed study. My methods are the ones that works more for the student. For some reason some methods work better with certain people. One method can be tedious for a student and easy and fun for another. Hal Leonard's can be a good tool. I can use to many different books. Also I can write down specific exercises special for the student. Some times a student can learn faster without a book. Read More

My first experience teaching was at the Saturday Conservatory of Music, currently based in San Gabriel, CA. I came on as the trombone teacher, but only acquired one student. This left me available to become a regular substitute and assistant for numerous other classes. I even taught the intermediate theory course for a semester. I spent a semester teaching music and English in Spain, and discovered an aptitude for approaching music from different directions. Read More
