Admittedly limited, my teaching experience started when I was in High School when I became the marching Band's trumpet section leader. I really enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience with otherswatching people grow in their musicianship is an incredible reward for me and I'd love to experience it more in my life! In college, I once again assumed the role of student and absorbed everything that I could. Now that I am graduate, I am very ready to share that with those who would have it. Read More

My aim as an instructor is to help each student progress in their own goals an aspirations by adapting and providing the information necessary to be set on a path directed towards his or her individual journey within music. I prefer having a good balance between technical facility of the instrument and the study of the music itself, whether that be in understanding a genres history, improvising and creating music, or transcribing and listening to music within the field of directed study. I Try to get away from mechanism without joy. Everything has to be close to the music. Exercises to be actually doing them with a rhythm and time. Other than doing things musically, practicing in different times and intentions help a lot for the student to be open to play songs in different ways. Technique and theory are necessary tools. To apply concepts musically they need to do it with musical taste. Read More
Instruments: Trombone Bass Guitar Euphonium
I have been teaching Trombone and Bass to students of all ages for over 15 years and still love giving students the tools and technique to progress and achieve their goals as musicians. Seeing the moment it "clicks" for a student and watching them improve as players and the change that makes in their own image and self confidence is one of the most satisfying aspects of teaching music. My professional career has taken me around the world and allowed me to do and see things I never would have dreamed. Read More
Instruments: Trombone
I always start with a warm up, followed by scale studies. From there we move to etudes, and solos or concerti, and end with excerpts from books like the Mueller technical study or Arban book. For more advanced students and jazz players, I like to start with a warm up, scale study, learn tunes and the blues, big band charts, and end with listening and transcriptions. Overall, the most important thing a student can develop is a full tone and personal sound. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Recorder Euphonium Tuba
My style of teaching seems to be very relaxed. I never force anything and I always want to give inspiration and motivation to the students. I get more pleasure and comfort knowing that this is something they want to do for themselves and not something I or their parents are forcing them to do. I think this also brings out the best playing and create motivation for the student. When I am teaching I give lots of support and even like to play along to give the student confidence and know that this is something that even I would do in my own practice. Read More

For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. For learning to read music I use one of the method books like "A Tune a day" or Strictly Strings which teach the fundamentals of read music and music theory. Read More
