Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Euphonium Tuba Music

My approach to doing lessons tends to be high enthusiasm and high standards. I am a firm believer in the idea of using focused practice and developing healthy self-criticism skills to build character. Creating lofty (but achievable) goals, setting standards, and persevering through challenges, is not only a great way to become a better musician, but is also a great way to become a better person. It is with this concept that I approach my lessons. Read More

I began teaching in 2014, shortly after graduating high school. I quickly began to enjoy encouraging and mentoring aspiring musicians to keep up with their practices as well as the love for music. I have a wide variety of teaching experiences such as teaching private lessons in home/studios, as well as instructing entire orchestras and wind ensembles. I've also found that a combination of classical and fundamental practices, as well as contemporary music, can go a long way in solidifying comfort ability on the instrument. Read More

My methods vary for each instrument so I have given a basic outline of my techniques below: For beginning students who are children I start with the basics, how do you play this funny musical instrument! The reason a student desires lessons is because they at some point, began to develop a passion for music. Through lessons, I hope to help that passion blossom and teach that student how to best express themselves through music. My teaching style again goes back to finding out what and how the student wants to learn. Fitting the standard curriculum doesn't work for some students, a teacher has to be able to be flexible when it comes to teaching different students. Read More

Upon first meeting me students I like to do an informal lesson to evaluate where they are in terms of technique on their instrument, knowledge of music fundamentals (harmony, theory and rhythm). At the beginning of each lesson I believe it's important to talk about what each student has been able to work on from the lesson before and each lesson ending in goals we would like to accomplish for the next meeting. Therefore, I hope to gain more experience working for a nonprofit organization in order to eventually start one or more of my own. One that is primarily focused on advancing my passions of education, community work, culture, and art, particularly starting in an underprivileged area then outreaching globally. Overall, all of these experiences taught me more about myself and the world. They have also given me invaluable skills that are well suited for my current goals. Read More

I will share fun and efficient ways to practice so that you get immediate results. If desired, I also guarantee you will be playing a blues and improvising within a maximum of 6 weeks as long as you practice at least 10 minutes, three times a week.  You will have the option of playing along with recordings minus your part so that you can experience the joy of ensemble playing early on in the safety of your own home. I love creating small ensemble groups of students at similar levels and arranging concerts at regular intervals.
