I'm a dedicated music educator that wants to help students bring out their full potential on their instrument. In 2018, I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music Education. While at Baylor, I was a member of the trombone studio under Brent Phillips. I played in all the instrumental ensembles avaliable to play in as a trombonist. I also studied piano as my secondary instrument in college. The biggest joy in teaching and working with students is seeing them develop a passion and love for music. My teaching experience is very hands on and I love to model everything that I teach. It's important for my students to progress at his or her own pace and I encourage this by setting goals for my students at each lesson. Although each student learns at a different pace and of course has a different personality, one of my favorite things about teaching is seeing their faces light up when they are able to accomplish something they've been working towards. Within teaching lessons, in my experience, has a lot to do with trust. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Bass Trombone Performance at New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, studying under James Markey, bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. From there, I earned a Graduate Certificate in Trombone Performance from the University of Central Arkansas in 2020. I hope to instill a joy and passion for music in my students. Through our work on fundamentals and etudes they will learn the skills they need to truly express themselves when they perform. I always try to ask the student what the scene of a movie would be if they are playing the soundtrack, and get them to convey that when they play. After that I received a bachelors degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas and then a masters degree in trumpet performance from the University of Texas at Arlington. I keep a busy schedule as a freelance musician and perform regularly with the Dallas Jazz Orchestra. I also do the occasional the tour with different groups.
