Music is a very physical thing as well as a very abstract thing. In my lessons, there will be kennistetic learning through movement as well as teaching through sensation. Using tools like Solfege it helps create muscle memory and tuning. Piano students will learn a wealth of theory knowledge, correct posture and fingering patterns. My method is based on the individual singer. I always begin by introducing the fundamentals of singing (posture, breath, etc.) as these are commonly addressed in some way throughout a voice lesson. I begin every lesson with warm up exercises that relate to the music or technique that the student is currently working on. From there, we begin applying those techniques into the music.
