2010 Hertz Hall selected to perform in noon series concert
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile! My passion for singing music is only second to my desire to provide healing and therapeutic music sessions. As a Board certified music therapist with a Master's degree level training in music therapy, my goals with students are always collaborative and therapeutic. Although teaching music and learning vocal technique is a priority in our sessions too, I also value the person's preferences, emotions, and connection to the music during our time together. If you are interested in receiving voice, guitar, piano lessons or music therapy sessions, kindly reach out to me for more information.
I have over 25 years experience singing Indian Classical and Western music and 20 years of teaching experience. My background in music also applies to a therapeutic milieu, indicating a passion to provide comfort and care through our music making. I highlight each student's strengths, emphasizing their potential and communicating with them in a meaningful manner. Whether you are learning to improve your skills or learn new repertoire, our time together will prove stimulating, uplifting and cathartic.
Some of the methods I employ include songwriting, improvisation, lyric analysis and instrumental play. Songwriting can often be based off an existing song or melody that the student prefers, and we can change or personalize the lyrics from there. Improvisation is a beautiful way to express oneself and connect to the music and to each other, whatever style we may be improvising in. Lyric analysis is a thoughtful method of connecting to and analyzing the lyrics of a song as it relates to oneself and one's life. In addition to these methods, we also work on improving vocal, piano or guitar technique and learning new repertoire that the student prefers and finds inspiring.
I am a positive and encouraging teacher, who consistently reminds her students of their innate value and talent. I try to involve the student in a way that they may not have estimated themselves being able to contribute. I challenge their abilities and tap into their potential to show them all they have to share and how much they can flourish. For instance, if a student is working on improving her vocal register, I will go systematically with the student to build that vocal register through various exercises while bringing out their own latent abilities in terms of creativity or vocal style.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
