Overview:
I am a drummer, composer, and educator currently living in NYC. I have a Bachelor of Music degree for Jazz Studies performance on drumset, but passionately play many different styles of music, as well as play concert and hand percussion. I perform in the NYC area with my trio, performing all original compositions, as well as presenting around the country as a guest artist and educator. I have gone on two tours in my own name, and have worked with different music programs ranging from ages 5 - 95.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching in high school, working with students in middle school who were preparing for their coming high school auditions. While still in high school, I also began teaching drum circles for career days at middle schools, pre-k field days, and retirement homes events. Fast forwarding a few years, I have now given masterclasses at universities, youth music institutions, and at a variety more of schools and programs. When working with students, regardless of their age, I strive to provide an enjoyable and engaging educational experience. My lighthearted and fun character often provides an environment in which students can find enjoyment and success in achieving their goals.
METHODS USED
Regardless of the age of the student, I make personalized lesson plans and materials. While I find method books can sometimes be helpful, I prefer to focus on each individuals varying abilities. For all students I spend time making sure technique is proper, as well as practice habits, in order to avoid any possible injuries or issues with things like tendinitis, for example. Mixed in with this foundational approach is studying the music that interests the student, keeping them engaged, and providing tangible applications of concepts and techniques we work on. I've found that by doing both simultaneously, students can grow healthily without being bored or frustrated.
LESSON STYLE
For me the student always comes first. I do not wish to satisfy any personal agenda with my lessons or the students growth. I like being able to help the student accomplish their goals and help them have a good time doing so. Each student has their own way of learning, and their own speed of processing things, and it's important to me as an educator that they can feel progress and success in what they're doing. I tailor my approach to grow individual students in a healthy and positive way that they will enjoy, as well as set foundations upon which they can build.

Dillon is a great kids teacher! Always on time and he knows how to approch young kids. My son loves drums even if he just started it and that is thanks to a good teacher.
