Overview:
I am a disciplined, hard-working musician and a dedicated instructor committed to providing students with the tools they need to succeed. I graduated with my Bachelor's from Indiana University in 2011 and with my Master's from Bowling Green State University in 2014. Since 2011, I have performed aboard luxury cruise lines and have had the opportunity to travel the world doing what I love. My time performing on cruise ships has turned me into an incredibly versatile player. I feel comfortable playing anything from jazz to classical to Top 40 and beyond.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching when I first got to college 8 years ago. Since then I have developed a lot as a teacher, but there are certain tenets that haven't changed since I first began taking private lessons when I was 12 years old. I was a member of Region and All-State groups in Middle School and High School and I encourage my students to enter these competitions as it keeps them motivated and working towards a goal. For those interested in jazz, I am very capable of getting them ready for High School Jazz Band auditions as well as college audition. I have taught students who were brand new to the instrument up college music majors, so I am always accepting students of all ages and skill levels.
METHODS USED
My Teaching Philosophy is to teach each student the fundamentals of necessary musial and non-musical skills. These include creativity, discipline, professionalism, etc. My goal is to make each student a better musician and, in turn, make him or her become a more fulfilled and productive person. For those interested in classical music, I begin with the fundamentals. I use the same book that I learned from when I began in fifth grade. Once the student is proficient, I begin to teach scales and introduce repertoire. Duets are a part of every lesson, because I feel it is important for the student to perform with somebody as often as possible so they can work on time and modeling. For those interested in jazz, I have developed a method in which we work on the "5 T's" (Tone, Technique, Twelve-Key, Transcribing, and Tune). The ultimate goal is to give each student the tools to eventually become his or her own teacher.
LESSON STYLE
I am aware that every student learns at a different pace and using different methods. I have experienced all kinds of students and talked with my colleagues extensively about how they learned to play. I feel that I am able to successfully cater to each student's individual needs. I have a base way of teaching but am very flexible.

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
