I have been playing piano since the age of 5 and piano is my root. It has laid a foundation for my musical experience that has made learning other instruments even easier as I continued to play in orchestras throughout high school and college. Most importantly, I grew to find the fun in music and is why i would like to share the piano with you, your child, or even both!
My teaching experience started in a Montessori preschool where I was a teacher's assistant. For three years, music was a part of our daily schedule and is where I found that even two sticks could bring a smile to a child's face. It was then I decided to gain my own music students and currently my teaching experience is mostly with beginners ages 5-7. I have even found with the methods I use that a 4 year old has progressed and enjoyed a 30 minute lesson once of week.
Most importantly music is fun! For my beginning students, I typically start with basic theory of the piano. Knowing note names; 'So, where is middle C? Great! ', as well as a few scales so they can hear the different tones they can make. Then, as they progress through the fundamentals, I like to use the early volumes of Bastien, Suzuki, or really any book that can provide a structure week to week. Each week as well my students can choose the song they want to learn. I have found allowing the student to choose between 2 or 3 songs at their current level empowers them to have control of their own experience, thus making music more enjoyable.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a smile on a face who wants to learn and feels themselves going somewhere with music. Is this you? If so, let's set up a trial meeting and set some goals. Practicing is important and parents i encourage your reinforcement. But, i have found the empowerment my current students have helps them want to practice and makes parental reinforcment even easier. They want to practice!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
