I am an avid music maker, and I truly live for helping others find their own joy through the art of music. I have been a middle and high school choral director for 10 years and have coached hundreds of my students to earning high marks at multiple solo competitions. In 2007, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education with an emphasis in vocal and general music. While there, I also studied trombone, tuba, and euphonium. I was the student director of three choirs as well as being selected to play euphonium in the SWOSU wind ensemble, tuba in the concert band, and trombone in orchestra, trombone choir, and jazz band. After graduation, I successfully led multiple ensembles to superior ratings at various competitions. In 2017, I was selected as one of only three to begin a masters program on choral conducting at Texas State University, which I will complete in August of 2019. I was named in October of 2018 as the Dorector of Music Ministries at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fort Worth where I also host my vocal studio.
My teaching experience really started back in high school when I would help coach my friends that were getting ready for solo and ensemble contests. That led to me teaching some lessons during college to my fellow classmates to help them make it through their voice classes and into choirs. I also taught some adults in my church that wanted to become better singers amd/or were gearing up for a special performance.
Once I began teaching in the public education system, I would set up times after school to work with as many of my students as possible. This led to hundreds of superior ratings at solo contest as well as dozens of placements in all region, all district, and all state choirs as well as selection into the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas, IM Terrall High School in Fort Worth, Booker T Washington High School in Dallas, and St. Thomas Boys Choir in New York.
For piano students, I like to use the Bastien piano methods books. For older beginners, I like to use the Adult All in One Course published by Alfred. For euphonium, trombone, and tuba players, I like to start with Rubank method books as well as supplemental solo selections. When considering vocal coaching, I like to focus on what the student is currently working towards, or I like to find out what the student is interested in learning. I will then piece together a set of music and methods to strengthen any areas of vocal production that needs addressing. All of my teaching is based on music literacy, so learning how to read music is a huge part of my curriculum.
The greatest joy in life is to watch a student produce a sound that is unique to them and so much more than they ever could have imagined producing. I am a perpetual coach and I love encouraging and uplifting while also pushing students to be their best all the time. I'm also a very happy person that creates a warm and safe environment for students to Express their creativity and experiment with new ways to use their instrument. By listening to students goals, I can tailor my instruction to best fit their individual needs and desires.
Adam is an awesome teacher! He is very patient and caring. My grandson loves to go to his piano lesson because he has already learned so much.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
