I've been teaching music in many different capacities for eight years now. Most recently, I served as the music instructor/curriculum designer for Manhattan Youth at The Computer School. Privately, I've taught students of all ages and experience levels, with focuses on saxophone sound, technique, music theory, aural skills, reading music, and improvisation. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I teach either in my home or yours using a 1 on 1 approach focusing on confidence and control, personal solo voice and style development, and versatility and ensemble skills. I also help with ear training, harmonic knowledge, rhythmic accuracy, tone development, and all nuances of musicality. I design a specific lesson program to address each unique student’s weaknesses and strengths, as well as honing in on the student’s individual musical goals and interests. Read More
