Even though the students often wanted to give up and many times gave up, I would not give up on the student, and would continue to not only try to make a valuable learning experience, but an enjoyable one that they would remember forever. My teaching philosophy encourages exploration of music with a focus on the uniqueness of each individual student and their particular aspirations, typically emphasizing reading classical music and improvising solos for Jazz or other more contemporary styles while having fun growing as a musician! I try to make sure lessons are fun and rewarding by adapting my teaching style to focus on the student's learning style and interests. Otherwise, I will start with the beginning Rubank method book, and move through books containing etudes and exercises of increasing difficulty. Playing an instrument needs to be fun, and natural. In my classes, I not only teach the tools to make music. I also teach how to create a relationship with it. Such relationship with music has been proven to improve one intellectual capacity, motor skills, and social skills.
