Since middle school, I have always loved helping friends with passages from solo and ensemble and band pieces, no matter the instrument. Whether it was rhythms, notes or intonation, even if I didn't know how to play the instrument yet, I would use a fingering chart and help them however I could. During high school, I would help beginner students that have never made a sound on an instrument learn the basics of what the instrument parts do, how to blow/buzz on the mouthpiece, and how to read music and play the instrument along with the music. My philosophical statement is that every child or adult should have the right to learn and gain a quality musical education no matter what their racial or sexual or religious identities etc maybe. I also encourage the importance of allowing each student to work at their own pace as they strive to achieve their goals of being a professional musician. I encourage this by working with each student to set realistic goals via the SMART method at each lesson. Read More

My methods are unique to each student and allow for every student to develop as a complete musician and begin making music as soon as possible. I am committed to helping develop all around musicians who are both proficient in the technical aspects of their individual instruments as well as knowledgeable about the theoretical aspects of creating music. I often use simple songs that the student knows as the catalyst to developing the students understanding of basic music concepts and ideas. Read More

Progression is my primary goal for each student. When my students grow, I grow. It is imperitive that each student remembers that growth is an individualized thing. I first encourage my students to set goals. Knowing what my student has an interest in doing/becoming will help me understand better how to pace the lessons. I always encourage consistent practice and acknowledging each student's accomplishment helps drive the student's desire to want to progress. Read More

Aurals are a great way for me to play to my student as they learn more about the selected piece, learn rhythm and also interpreting their selected pieces. Read More
