In my previous teaching I have a very sound based approach. Everything will be easier and more fun if we can produce a good sound and tone out of the instrument. I have used this method in all of my previous students and found their niche to what they need to make lessons and their playing more enjoyable. We work at the students pace and make sure they are always ready to move on. Read More

I have been playing music since I was in 6th grade, and have been playing in bands on and off since high school. While I do not have an academic background in music per se, I have years of experience teaching children and adults, and I feel I can teach you just as well as I have taught my other students in the past, and honestly myself---I started playing saxophone (in 6th grade as I previously mentioned), and in more recent years I have started playing piano, guitar, and harmonica (in that order of competence). I believe in focusing on important fundamentals in music to allow the student to achieve whatever they wish. I focus on tone, technique, and musicality for all levels to then apply these skills. I have many method books for students if they prefer to learn that way, but I can also assign tailored exercises to cater the needs of each individual student. I am here to help the student play whatever type of music they want! Read More

A beautiful sound is the beginning of the creation of beautiful music! I find it most important to do work on a student's sound in the beginning stages of playing. To achieve the foundations of a good sound, playing pitches (beginning with A on alto) on the mouthpiece alone will develop the student's sound from the beginning as well as lay the foundations for a good embouchure. Doing this brings awareness to the students use of air by showing him/her the muscules used within and around the oral cavity in order to produce an optimal sound on the saxophone without developing bad habits that could be detrimental to a student's health. Music has been a big part of me for most of my life. I started playing piano at age 8 and saxophone at age 9. During hish school and college, I recieved many awards and recognitions for my playing. I recieved my Bachelors in 2014 and my Masters in 2015. During my musical studies, I have studied with many stellar musicians and teachers, and I strive to impart the same amount of excitement and energy to my students that these musicians imparted to me. For all of my students of any age, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and learning a recognizable song hand picked by the student and approved by me. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce jazz repertoire, sight reading and things like, technical exercises, jazz improvisation, theory, ear training and classical music etudes. I also introduce my students to composition and different musical creation techniques. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
