I began teaching in 2012 when I was awarded the Graduate Assistant position at Western Michigan University. As a G.A., I was responsible for teaching non-music majors saxophone lessons, theory and ear-training, as well as coaching ensembles. I also taught flute and clarinet at Paramount Charter Academy in Kalamazoo, Michigan to middle school students. At the end of eighth grade I was going to quit but my parents encouraged me to try again. When I entered ninth grade I joined the marching band which was a great experience for me. We had a great band that was directed by a great band director. We played at competitions and won awards. Privately, I've taught students of all ages and experience levels, with focuses on saxophone sound, technique, music theory, aural skills, reading music, and improvisation. Practicing on a regular schedule is the best way for young students to improve, as well as older students to continue to perfect their technique.
