My goal for every student is to experience learning their instruments in an environment that is both encouraging and rewarding. I exhibit patience with the student knowing what it takes to develop new skills and I work hard in helping each student feel at ease in expressing themselves. I have used many different materials over the years, depending on the individual student's needs and desires to play their music. I do stress learning to read music notation so that you can approach with confidence any piece of music that you would like to play. Read More

I started teaching Privately in 2007 and have continued off and on since. I have worked with students in Woodwind and Brass either privately or in a school setting. Also, I had the opportunity to work with multiple schools ensembles and marching bands. I encourage all of my students to maintain a constant practice schedule in order to work toward our goals. Music is meant to be enjoyed, so I like to find what it is my student enjoys and improve on those aspects. Read More

Hello, my name is Jordan and I've been a professional touring musician and music teacher for the last 16 years. I have a degree in Music Performance from GA State University (Saxophones-Jazz Studies). During my undergrad I took several years of classical lessons with Atlanta’s best saxophonist-Sam Skelton, as well as several years of jazz performance. During my time in Atlanta I was introduced to many great players! Including my good friend Coy Bowles, current member of the Zac Brown Band. Read More

My musical career started as a singer growing up in Washington DC. I have been playing saxophone for almost 15 years and have been composing for 8. I have maintained a private studio for 6 years and have taught students from 8-18. I have lots of experience singing and playing in lots of different genres of music and have always maintained the importance of being able to play in multiple genres. My own compositions blend jazz, hip hop, and contemporary music together, and my students are enriched with the knowledge that I bring from all those genres. Read More

There are many acceptable method books for beginning students, however, I have found that if a student gets relatively comfortable on their instrument before trying to decipher a grand staff, they seem to enjoy the learning experience more. The hardest part of teaching music, in my opinion, is the educational content that isn't in a method book. Finding someone who can play your instrument better than you can often be more inspirational than finding a new piece that is slightly out of your comfort zone or using a method book that, at the end of the day, is supposed to help a student reach the ability level of the person the student aspires to be. Music is a very tough discipline. It will not happen in one lesson, but what will happen is that students will instantly witness progress and this feeling becomes addictive. I challenge my students to practice hard because with that type of discipline the student will not only grow musically, but mentally as a human. I would not be the compassionate person I am today if it had not been for me falling in love with music. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder Piccolo

One of my greatest joys have always been to see my students make progress and express how happy they are with themselves after working hard, and this is one of my greatest motivations to teach and give teaching all that I've got. As a private studio instructor, I encourage my students to keep detailed notes of our lessons and record their practice sessions and discoveries in that same note book for this helps with organization and focus, thus eliminating the need for aimless practicing and playing of ones instrument. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
