I have a great breadth and depth of experience with instrumental music education. Clarinet has been my primary performance instrument, but I have found over the years that the techniques that I use to teach clarinet are easily and successfully transferable to the other instruments that I teach. Besides the clarinet, I also teach saxophone, guitar, violin and piano throughout the Colorado Springs area. I was part of the school of music's community teaching program, where I taught lessons to mostly children. Since that time I have taught in-home lessons and home studio lessons. I've been teaching most of my adult life. I started tutoring while still in high school, and I continued as a teaching assistant as a college student. I taught at Hope College for six years in a number of different subjects: saxophone, jazz ensembles, music theory, aural skills, piano class, and music appreciation. I even ran the percussion ensemble for one semester, which was a blast! I love my AF band job, but I do miss teaching full-time. Read More
