I have taught at schools in the Philadelphia, Bucks, Berks, Chester and Lancaster Counties as an adjunct professor. I teach all the woodwind families. For four years during my undergraduate studies, I got to spend an hour a week with Ralph Bowen’s gentle, understated method of teaching. He worked to get to know me personally, and then crafted lessons around my specific needs. With surgical precision, he conveyed information and assigned work and entirely because of his teachings, I improved a tremendous amount while loving music, myself, and him. Every student is different – this fact is cause for the gnarliest and most beautiful moments in education. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice Saxophone
My teaching experience began in my post undergraduate college days. After graduation, I began studying at a studio called Jazz Improv with a Master's level instructor. One of his students asked for a saxophone teacher and the party was referred to me. I was then able to obtain a second saxophone student; I have also had two piano students when teaching. I enjoyed teaching music and it is something I look forward to getting back to as I attempted to acquire students on my own with minimal success. Read More

My teaching style begins with creating a positive environment for the student to keep them encouraged and wanting to continue their study. I try to keep the students engaged by finding a balance of what the students want to work on, as well as what I want them to be working on. I understand that every student learns differently, and I won't teach every student the same way. I will give the students goals to reach every week, so they can see the progress themselves, and I always ensure to acknowledge when a student has succeeded with something that was assigned to them. I graduated with a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland in 2009, and I am the Second Oboe and English Horn player in the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra as well as Co-Principal Oboe of the Endless Mountain Music Festival in Wellsboro, PA. I am a fairly new teacher but since completing my degree in May of 2015 I have already began to build a private studio as well as teach at a few local music schools. I believe that in order to truly understand an instrument, practice must take place nearly everyday. In lessons, I teach students how to practice by creating short goals that add up to long-term progress. For younger students, I find it helpful to treat these goals as games in order to make practicing feel fun as opposed to feeling like work. Read More
