I am a performer, composer, and educator who loves inspiring and cultivating a passion for music in my students. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from Cal State Fullerton in 2017, and moved out to CT to pursue my Master's degree at the Hartt School and study with Carrie Koffman. I love performing in competitions, as a solo performer, and in chamber ensembles. I've also had opportunities to perform around the country and the world including California, China, and New York. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what truly inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and the needs. Read More

I began teaching when I was in college around the age of 18. I started with a small group of only a few kids and later advanced to teaching over two dozen per week. I was also offered the position of saxophone instructor at my high school's band camp for three consecutive Summers. In that setting, I coached all 20 kids in a classroom at once and helped them on the field with memorizing their steps and music. Read More

During a lesson I tend to organize the lesson so that there are three or four parts. Usually I begin with long tones then we move to articulation. Then I usually incorporate a few small musical studies that cater to style and performance type. During this time it is important for the student to pay attention to the timbre of their performance. Next I cater to the students ability to create their own character with a solo. Read More

A student will never practice if they're not having fun, and they won't have fun if they're being pushed harder than they want to be pushed. Therefore, when I start with a student, I always ask how much they want to improve and how quickly, how important music is to them, and how much time they're willing to invest daily. We continue on the student's pace, and find the most efficient and fun way to get the student's goals. Read More
