I have been playing the piano for twelve years. I graduated from Stetson University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and from the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP) with a Masters of Music in Piano Performance in 2022. I have performed in Italy, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas, on a solo level and collaboration. i teach each student individually that is to say that i tailor the lessons to meet the level and desires of the student . i include teaching theory as i go along with each student. i tell each student that there is no such thing as a mistaked, there is only learning. i usually teach two songs in the first hour lesson . one in four four time and one in three four time . i also teach how to transpose any song that the student wishes to learn into the key that the student is able to sing the song in. again . nothing is hard . it is only new. For beginning students, I would suggest that a practice log be kept in terms of how long they practice each day along with an outline of which exercises or pieces should be done for that amount of time. I suggest students take breaks, even every 5-10 minutes as it relaxes the fingers and the mind and helps minimize frustration or boredom.
