I like for my students to develop a passion for music by showing them what can be accomplished with a little hard work and discipline. My method includes teaching them the fundamentals of music, such as reading, harmony, theory, and songwriting, while at the same time showing them how to play their favorite music while applying these fundamentals. Making the lesson fun is absolutely essential! I believe being flexible with my teaching style accomplishes this without being tedious or "boring" for the student. Read More

Every student has different goals in their music lessons. I aim to create a fun and safe learning environment that doesn't put unnecessary pressure on students. No matter what one teaches, the burden to learn ultimately lies on the student. I believe what truly makes a great teacher is the ability to invoke interest in the given topic, so that the student wants to learn more! I strive to help my students find the same joy I get from music and desire to practice/learn more. Read More

My experience goes back to High School when I would give casual tutoring sessions to friends. In college I started teaching lessons in theory and composing/songwriting. I like to encourage students to get on a practicing schedule especially for younger students as it helps them get more interested in the instrument. I like to start with modern pop/rock styles to get the student interested in the instrument then mix in Jazz so we can talk about more complex theory and also mix in a little classical so we can talk about technique and form. I am a passionate teacher who believes that everyone can make progress in their chosen instrument, including in singing. I meet you where you are and we work to make progress from there. Whatever style you want to sing, learning to use the instrument in a healthy way will make things easier and more satisfying. In my studio we learn by playing games, using imagery, using yoga to experience how the body feels and sometimes just good old fashioned counting. Read More

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who loves sharing my passion for music with everyone I can. I graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston, MA in 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Cognition, which is the study of how music affects the brain. During my time there I was able to perform with the jazz band on both guitar and piano, study music composition with the head of the Performing Arts Department, and showcase my original music and research. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 24years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 11years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
